Connecting with other people – no matter where they may be in the world – has been made more convenient, thanks to the power of social media and technology. It’s beneficial for many of us, but more so for harder-to-adopt canines. Groups could now easily bridge them with permanent families through clicks and shares. However, some still resort to traditional (and more interesting!) methods to get the public’s attention.
A pit bull mix named Sally Sue has been patiently waiting for her forever home for over two years. Thanks to Scott Poore, animal advocate and Founder of Mission Driven Goods, her story has been made known to the public through a huge and eye-catching billboard!
Mission Driven Goods is based in Kansas City, Missouri that sells pet-themed products to help long-term shelter animals find permanent homes. And this is precisely the objective behind the 30-foot billboard that Poore has set up. This latest initiative aims to create awareness about animals that have spent a long time in shelters. According to KMBC, the company rented out the billboard space on I-35 near Mission, Kansas, to reach a new audience.
In an interview, Poore explained that their social media posts only reach the same people. But with a billboard – especially if displayed on the I-35 – they could generate thousands of views.
And Sally Sue takes the spotlight as the latest model for the billboard. The eleven-year-old canine is still looking for her forever home and is available for adoption through Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary. Poore said all they need is the right person to pass by the billboard so they can save another furry animal’s life.
They are also aiming to raise funds to continue to rent the billboard space. And once Sally Sue gets adopted, they would put another animal on the billboard for other passersby to see – and hopefully adopt!
He added that they are not just looking for a home, but they are looking for the perfect home for her.
You can visit Mission Driven’s website to know more about their work. And for anyone who thinks Sally Sue is their ideal pet, you can apply to adopt her through the Always and Furever Midwest Animal Sanctuary website.
