Butter is a two-year-old Aspin, a breed native to the Philippines. She now resides in Canada with her fur daddy. Although she is almost 7,000 miles away from her country of origin, she now feels at home surrounded by love.
Bret Maverick, Butter’s fur dad, first saw her in June 2019. Bret was visiting the Philippines at that time, and the stray dog came to his doorsteps. He took her in, took care of her, and treated her well. And since then, they have become inseparable.
At first, Bret only intended to take care of Butter while he was in the Philippines. He planned to find a new home for her when the time came that he needed to go back to Canada. But over the months, and as the pandemic came, their bond became more substantial.
Butter became Bret’s source of joy and stress-reliever. She was a great help in maintaining his mental health amidst the anxieties that the pandemic brought. In return, Bret cared for Butter with all his heart. There was even one time when the dog got very sick, and Bret did everything he could to nurse her back to health.
The two shared a connection that is hard to break. So, when Bret went back to Canada in August 2020, he brought Butter with him. The process of transporting Butter to Canada was not easy, but it was all worth it.
Now Butter is having the best time of her life, a far cry from the once homeless life she used to live. She goes on different adventures, and her fur dad happily records her memorable moments and posts them on his YouTube account. Thanks to Bret for saving Butter from the streets, and now she lives the life she deserves.
