A nonprofit rescue group in India received a call one day about a dog that got hit by a train. Residents living nearby didn’t know what to do. Thankfully, one of them made the decision to call for help. And before long, rescuers arrived to take the injured pooch away.
It seemed that the pup did not have owners as he was still by the tracks where he got run over. He sustained a lot of injuries, especially to his three legs, but miraculously, he survived. As they carried the poor creature away, he cried and howled as pain crept through his fragile body.
Stop the suffering
The dog, later named Deepak, was rushed to the organization’s medical facility. A team was already waiting, they were already notified of the horrible accident. And when the pup arrived, they were shocked to see the extent of his injuries. For many people, the best solution was to end the dog’s suffering and put him to sleep.
The vet didn’t want to go down that road. He talked to his team and said they would do everything they could to save the canine’s life. For the next five hours, they worked nonstop to clean and repair his wounds. They had no other choice but to amputate his crushed legs.
Deepak survived the operation, but he was far from being out of danger.
Full recovery
The kindhearted rescuers isolated Deepak from the rest of their rescues. They made sure that he was comfortable and safe. His carers didn’t want anything to hamper his rehabilitation. For several weeks, he was showered with love and attention, and this made the whole difference.
When Deepak fully recovered, he completely transformed into a happy and loving dog. Despite his disabilities, he was full of affection toward the people that saved him.
The organization eventually found his owners, but they didn’t want the dog back. So instead of looking for a new forever home for Deepak, they decided to let him stay in their sanctuary forever.
