Mochi, an 8-week-old Bernese mountain dog, is being trained for a crucial position at the Macon Funeral Home in Franklin, North Carolina. As the newest employee, this lovely little puppy is destined for great things, such as joining the bereavement support team.

Macon Funeral Home revealed a sleeping Mochi through a beautiful Facebook post. New admirers of the adorable dog discovered that Mochi loves people and loves to sleep, which garnered tons of likes and comments in support of the dog’s new position. The post from the funeral home also asked individuals to stop over and meet the adorable dog should they want to.

Tori McKay, the owner of Mochi, has no doubts about her pet and the idea to have her dog be part of the support team was her idea. McKay is the administrative assistant at Macon Funeral Home, and she had always had the idea of having a dog in the funeral house. When she shared her idea with Macon’s manager, Brian Hylton, he was on board.

Dogs have proven to help out in various ways. They cannot change everything but they can often help alleviate a person’s sorrow. This is especially true with Bernese mountain dogs, who have a reputation for being calm and kind. McKay chose the breed because they have a history of serving as therapy and service dogs and because of their intellect and people abilities.

McKay intends to work with Mochi one-on-one and socialize her at the funeral home. However, Mochi will not begin her formal training until she is one year old. McKay thinks that after training, Mochi will be able to soothe people most in need, similar to Fiona, another Bernese mountain dog who works in a Brooklyn funeral home.

The response toward Mochi’s future designation on the team has been phenomenal.
