Oftentimes, homeless dogs brought to a shelter for temporary refuge are subjected to euthanasia. When a shelter is flooded with stray dogs, finding a home and space for the newcomers is sometimes deprioritized, leaving the shelter no choice but to put them down.
Pepsi, a five-month-old white and tan puppy, was once on the verge of being euthanized when he was taken to an overcrowded local shelter around Leavenworth, Kansas. Luckily, an animal trainer, Melissa Millett, came in to rescue the poor pup. Being renowned for training dogs for TV and movie roles, she found an ideal opportunity for Pepsi, hence saving him from being doomed. Not long after, the pooch turned into a famous and well-loved celebrity in a TV series.
When the rescuer first found Pepsi, he was freezing cold in a snowy zone near Kansas. That aside, the trembling puppy has a heartworm disease too making him a candidate for euthanasia. But, Melissa noticed the pup and fell in love with him right there and then.
As per Melissa, she finds Pepsi as the perfect dog to portray Krypto, Superboy’s dog, in Titans series under HBO Max. The sweet pup resembles the character so much in the comic book. Melissa then decided to train the adorable pup to be the finest superhero he can be, and in return, Pepsi was more than thrilled and motivated to become an actor.
Having an unknown past, training Pepsi requires a lot of work than most dogs. Work necessities sometimes scared the pup like dog-friendly paint. However, through constant guidance and positive reinforcement, the pup unleashed his true self and soon started to trust Melissa. Above all, Pepsi’s acting career is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity as he gets to be cast in a popular TV show with superpowers and cool outfits too.
Thanks to a kind woman like Melissa who believed in Pepsi, he is now a TV star who has a brighter future ahead of him. Melissa hopes that more rescue dogs will get the chance to be in the spotlight too just like the now-famous pup. Pepsi’s journey is an eye-opener to everyone to take chances on dogs especially those that terribly need a helping hand.
